All loads received are accompanied by a waste transfer note and/or consignment note, which will provide details of the origin, quantity and categories of WEEE. When the electrician processes each of the items, he records all relevant information onto a computer database, including:

The origin code for the item.
A unique identification code.
The WEEE category.
The specific type of device: make, model, size, etc.
The established average weight of the item.
PAT result – Pass or Fail.
Quality control – Pass or Fail.
Additional relevant test information.

This information is backed up daily onto a separate secure hard-drive.

From this database, it is possible to extract all necessary information for the completion of quarterly returns.
Average weights are established, for the full range of products processed, by means of a plate-weigher. These weights are checked and reviewed annually, or if a significant difference is recognised in the throughput of products (e.g. the size or style of television sets received).

All rejected items will be treated as WEEE, which will be consigned to an AATF specialising in materials recycling.
