Our Operating Procedures
BJE only collects from local authority DCFs (or receives from such via selected registered waste carriers), items of WEEE that are claimed to be in working order, or that appear to be in good condition.
The driver makes a visual inspection of each item to ensure that there is no obvious damage, that it is not dirty, that it is reasonably modern, and that it appears to have been protected from the elements. They also checks that a label identifying the site of origin has been applied to every item; if not, he applies one. If these criteria are not met, the item will not be collected. Acceptable items are carefully loaded onto the collection vehicle, in such a way as to avoid damage in transit.
Upon arrival at BJE, all items are carefully unloaded from the vehicle and stored in cages or batches, according to their site of origin. Any items found to have been damaged in transit will be placed in the ‘Reject Bay,’ pending safe delivery to another AATF specialising in breaking WEEE for materials recycling.
